Botox & Dysport
BOTOX®, a registered trade mark of Allergan Inc., and Dysport® (Ipsen's product) are different forms of purified botulinum toxin A. Botulinum toxin is an agent that blocks the nerve impulses to the muscle, causing weakness or paralysis of the injected muscle. When injected, the muscle becomes progressively weaker. In aesthetic medicine, we use this property to affect wrinkles that are caused by the muscles of facial expression, such as the frown lines between the brow, crowsfeet or horizontal forehead lines. The effect can be seen in a few days following injection and may last up to four months.
