Program Overview
We can't tell you exactly which program will be prescribed prior to your visit, however, we can give you a brief idea about what you can expect to occur during your initial visit with our medical weight loss team. If, after looking through this information you have additional questions or wish to schedule your first visit please call us and we will help in any way that we can.

Your First Visit
On your first visit we will measure your vital signs (pulse, blood pressure, and temperature) and take a blood sample. That sample will be sent to a laboratory and analyzed for basic health markers like blood cholesterol, sugar levels, thyroid, kidney and liver function.
Weight and body composition analysis will be performed and your BMI is calculated. These measurements are taken so that we can better understand your weight-related health risks and help you track your progress through your custom weight loss program.
Depending on your health and family history, we may perform an electrocardiogram (EKG/ECG). An EKG provides extra information about your heart which helps us to carefully choose the safest treatment options for you.
You will then undergo a review of your health history, family health history, and dietary review followed by a comprehensive physical exam. We will discuss the results of your health and diet histories, your physical exam. Based on this information, we will develop your customized weight management plan, including referral for nutrition and fitness counseling when appropriate.
Please be sure to avoid wearing any body lotion on the day of your first visit or this will make the EKG very difficult to perform. Please do not eat or drink anything (other than water) after 10 p.m. on the evening prior to your lab work.
Follow-up Visits
Weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly follow-up visits, depending on which program you are on, are important components to safe and successful weight loss. For patients on prescription medications, monthly physician follow-ups are mandatory in order to continue the medications and ensure you are losing weight safely. Those on Very Low Calorie Diets will need weekly or bi-weekly follow-ups with the weight loss team.
During the follow-up visits with our weight loss team, body weight and measurements are taken as well as BMI analysis. Vital signs such as blood pressure are also taken. We review your progress and provide any changes or modifications if needed.
