The spider veins are destroyed by injecting a small amount of a chemical in the vein. The sclerosants used at Evolve Medical Associates include; sotradecol, polidocanol or Sclerodex. The chemical irritates the vein and causes the vein walls to collapse together and close off. This treated vein is reabsorbed by the body and eventually disappears.
